India Culture Day was a great success this year! A huge thank you goes out to all the parents who were able to volunteer to help make to make the event enjoyable for staff and students the whole day. Below is a recap of the day. Enjoy!

We enjoyed a culture room led by Mrs. Bakshi who taught us about different Indian musical instruments, how to write letters and numbers in Hindi, and also some pop culture facts about different leaders and places of India.

Mr. Murthy along with other volunteers enjoyed teaching the students how to play cricket.

The Auction night and Talent Show is less than 10 days away! We want to make sure you have all the information you need before Saturday, May 14 so you are prepared for a fun-filled “fun”draising night! There will be food, talent from our students, and two auctions! All money from donations and the auction will go towards our playground fundraising! Our goal is to raise $100,000 for our new playground!

The two types of auctions taking place will be a silent auction and a live auction. Below we will define the differences for you.

First we will define a bid. A Minimum Bid is the lowest dollar amount that will be accepted for an item. The Highest Bid for an item will win!

What is a Silent Auction?

A Silent Auction is held without an auctioneer. Instead, you place a bid by logging onto the BiddingForGood website using your username and password.

How Do I Register to Bid?

1. Go to the biddingforgood.com home page.
2. In the upper-left corner, click Bidder.
3. Then, click Register.
4. Complete the Registration.
5. Click SUBMIT at the bottom of the page.
6. In order to bid, you will need to add a credit card. Please note that you can pay in cash or via check the night of the event if you wish.
7. Remember your username and password as you will need this to log on to bid during the auction. The auction will end at a specified time and bidding will close. The person who has placed the highest bid wins!

How to place a bid:

1. Make sure you are registered and logged in.
2. Select the Type of Bidding you would like (either Exactly this Amount or Proxy – up to this amount, meaning you can set a maximum dollar-value for your bid).
3. Confirm your bid and you are done!
4. You will know right away if you are in the lead or if another bidder’s maximum (proxy) bid was still higher than yours.
5. If you are in the lead, you will get an email letting you know if you have been outbid so you can bid again!

What is a Live Auction?
A Live Auction is held with an auctioneer and in front of a live audience of bidders! Get ready and excited to bid against your peers! The person who has placed the highest bid wins!

There’s even an option for families who do not want to participate in the auction portion of the fundraiser. You can become a parent sponsor by giving a financial gift directly to the school. Your child/children’s names will be on a special display on the new playground.

Parent Sponsor Levels

Silver Level:  $1,000 - $5,000 financial gift
Gold Level: $5,001 - $10,000 financial gift
Platinum Level: $10,001 + financial gift

Tickets can be purchased online http://bit.ly/ACEauctiontickets or at the door. Tickets purchased at the door will be charged a credit card processing fee. All parents and students coming to the auction and talent show MUST have tickets to enter.

As the saying goes, “it takes a village!” and we have a wonderful village of families that we hope will surround ACE to help us provide for our next journey in the new building. We hope to see you Saturday, May 14th at 5:00PM for the Auction and Talent Show evening, which will take place at the current ACE building.

February is I Love ACE Month! This is a month of school activities, and a time where parents and former parents tell others about their experiences with ACE through social media. This year, we are holding multiple contests to help get the word out into the community about ACE. Children of participating families will receive a small gift for the first post, and the parent's name is entered into a drawing. For each additional posting, the parent's name will again be entered into a drawing. Posts can be on Facebook and Twitter -using the hashtag #iloveACE2016, Google, Yelp, or greatschools.org.

We must have proof of the post in order to be entered in the drawing. You can take a screenshot of your post and send it to icanread2@myschoolace.com or print the screenshot and send it in your student’s folder.

The more you post on social media, the more chances you have to earn one of our top prizes! Names will be drawn for prizes on March 1.
1st place prize: $100 to Reston Town Center and $25 Toys R Us
2nd place prize: $50 to Amazon and $10 Toys R Us
3rd place prize: 1 free night of aftercare at ACE, or a refund for 1 night if you are currently enrolled

Remember, use the hastag #iloveACE2016 on Facebook and Twitter to help us trend on social media! Many of our parents say that ACE is the “best kept secret in Reston”. We love that! However, it is time that we get the secret out and show the community what an awesome school ACE is!
